The Marginal Utility of Cable News

by Will on August 20, 2010

It’s zero or lower. These stations offer little useful news, and their framing of stories diminishes and obstructs our nation’s dialog about important issues.

If we’re going to have 10 percent unemployment, I want to see Chris Matthews and Wolf Blitzer down at the Unemployment office. They’re not good at their job as journalists. Perhaps they could find another line of work where they’d contribute something useful to society.
Can we somehow drive these con men out of business? Can we get cable providers to start offering BBC International so people at least have the option of watching real news? Could AFP or McClatchy start up a legitimate news network? The dinosaurs need to go.
