What To Be for Halloween?

by Will on October 9, 2010

For the last two decades I’ve had a hard time coming up with good halloween costumes. A few years back I tried to dress up as Sisyphus: it didn’t work. Another time I tried to go as the song “Death of a Disco Dancer” by the Smiths. Total disaster, which caused me years of bitter regrets. Last year I rather successfully disguised myself as Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner (whom I’ve not been impressed with — but history may judge me wrong), but it grew tiresome having to explain the costume to every person I talked to. We find ourselves once more in the queasy and dispiriting month of October, awaiting the intrusions of ghosts thought long put to rest, and I once again have no ideas. Perhaps it would be better just to delegate the decision to some other person and happily execute whatever this person decrees.
