Both David Bowie and Ric Ocasek have taught me this. When you’re at an impasse and don’t know how to wrap the song up, put in a mournful minor-chord progression with some plaintive lyrics about “how long” it has been. Since what? Doesn’t matter! The listener will come up with something.
