This Day Will Not Be Easy

by Will on November 2, 2010

I’m looking at a bunch of challenges, sacrifices, and disappointments before this day passes into the annals. So much for the naive hope that a World Series victory would change everything.

So the possibility of my getting it together enough to post is remote. For those interested, my main ideas were something about the costs and benefits of elitism in science, something about the costs and benefits of the narrow compartmentalism of academic departments, or something about how Paul Krugman is too forgiving of his colleagues who ignore their training and say what pampered elites would rather hear.

I hereby propose that every new proposed rail project be called “the Groove Line”:

Leave your worries behind. Rain, shine… don’t mind. We’re riding on the groove line tonight.
